If you plan to visit Penghu, you have to fly to Taiwan first (Eva Air and China Airline are two major airline companies based in Taiwan. They offer bargain round-trip airfares from many locations around the world to Taiwan from Oct. to March. Please check their websites for best tickets. Once you are in Taiwan, you can come to Penghu either by air or by sea. One way that tourist can visit Penghu is by air. There are four main airlines including Far Eastern Air Transport, Mandarin Airlines, TransAsia Airways and Uni Air, which provide frequent flights from the main island to Penghu (Makung Airport). It takes about 30 minutes to get to the Makung Airport depending on the departing cities. The airfare is between NT$1400 and NT$1,800. You should make reservation in advance by calling your desired airlines. The other way to visit Penghu is by sea. There are several companies that operate ferries between the main island and Penghu. Taiwanline Taihua Ferry provides transportation between Kaohsiung and Makung. The traveling time is about 5 hours, and a one-way ticket costs NT$850. For those passengers coming to Taiwan via Taipei. You have to take a bus ride from CKS International Airport(which is about 50 KM south of Taipei city) to Song-san Airport (which is in Taipei City) to take the Taipei-Makung flight. The bus service is frequent (every 10 minutes) and cheap (150 NT) and the travel time is about 50 minutes.
